Help Fight CP!
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurological condition that occurs during pregnancy or labor, or after birth, damaging the central nervous system. CP affects about 800,000 Americans. Peter Zeidner, founder of Pedal-with-Pete, was born with CP, which has limited his ability to walk, use his hands and speak. The organization’s goal is to raise funds for medical research to prevent, treat, and even cure the effects of CP.
Dear Friends,
For 13 years, the Pedal-with-Pete Foundation has been raising money for cerebral palsy research through bike-a-thons in Kent, Ohio and this year we are hosting our 6th ride in Columbus. In December 2006, we were able to present Dr. Leland Albright and his research team a check for $42,000. Thanks to everyone’s participation and generosity, $340,000 dollars has been raised in these 13 years to support cerebral palsy research.
The need for CP research is great. Only about $2 million dollars is targeted annually by the NIH (National Institute for Health) for CP research in the U.S. Research dollars for other conditions like MS or cystic fibrosis command two to four times as much. This is why your involvement in Pedal-with-Pete makes such an impact.
There are so many ways to participate; just your registration fee alone builds funds for research, but by gathering sponsorship dollars from your friends and contacts, you can really make a difference. You can also participate in the raffle for a great bike! You will be riding not only for my sake, but also for the sake of Scarlet and Joseph and Edward and David and Tyrone and Katie and many others.
Thanks so much for your generous support!
Peter O. Zeidner
