Help Fight CP!
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurological condition that occurs during pregnancy or labor, or after birth, damaging the central nervous system. CP affects about 800,000 Americans. Peter Zeidner, founder of Pedal-with-Pete, was born with CP, which has limited his ability to walk, use his hands and speak. The organization’s goal is to raise funds for medical research to prevent, treat, and even cure the effects of CP. More Information about CP
Dear Friends,
For 14 years, the Pedal-with-Pete Foundation has been raising money for cerebral palsy (CP) research through bike-a-thons in Kent, Ohio and this year we are hosting our 7th annual Columbus ride. At the end of 2007, PwP disbursed $60,000 to two research teams, one headed by Dr. Leland Albright, and the other by Dr. Elizabeth Tyler-Kabarra. Thanks to the participation and generosity of thousands of riders and donors, PwP has raised over $400,000 dollars in these 14 years to support cerebral palsy research.
The need for CP research is great. Only about $2 million dollars is targeted annually by the NIH (National Institute for Health) for CP research in the U.S. Research dollars for other conditions like MS or cystic fibrosis command two to four times as much. Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition that occurs during pregnancy or labor, or after birth, damaging the central nervous system and affects over 500,000 Americans.
This is why your involvement in Pedal-with-Pete makes such an impact.
There are so many ways to participate; your registration fee alone builds funds for research, but by gathering sponsorship dollars from your friends and contacts, you can really make a difference. You can also participate in the raffle for a great bike! You will be riding not only "for Pete's sake", but also for others like Scarlet, Todd, Joseph, Katie and many others.
Thanks so much for your participation and your generous support!
