Help Fight CP!
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurological condition that occurs during pregnancy or labor, or after birth, damaging the central nervous system. CP affects about 800,000 Americans. Peter Zeidner, founder of Pedal-with-Pete, was born with CP, which has limited his ability to walk, use his hands and speak. The organization’s goal is to raise funds for medical research to prevent, treat, and even cure the effects of CP. More Information about CP
Dear Friends,
For 15 years, the Pedal-with-Pete (PwP) Foundation has been raising money for cerebral palsy (CP) research through rides in Kent, Ohio, and now we’re hosting our 8th annual “Ride, for Pete’s Sake” in Columbus. At the end of 2008, PwP disbursed $38,000 to two research teams, one headed by Dr. Benedict and the other by Dr. Moreau. Thanks to the participation and generosity of thousands of riders and donors PwP has raised over $400,000 dollars in these 15 years to support cerebral palsy research.I’ve dealt with CP since birth. 800,000 children and adults in the U.S. also deal with CP. Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition that occurs during pregnancy or labor, or after birth, damaging the central nervous system.
The need for CP research is great. National research funding is much less than funding for diseases that affect fewer people. Occurring in 3.6 per 1,000 births, CP is the most common childhood physical disability. The funds you donate continue to be desperately needed.
The Columbus volunteers are targeting to DOUBLE the funds raised this year for CP research. Only YOU can make that dream come to life, raising sponsorship dollars to help those impacted by CP. A portion of your registration fee builds funds for research, but by gathering sponsorship dollars from your friends and contacts, you can really make a difference. You will be riding not only for “Pete’s sake”, but also for others like Scarlet, Todd, Joseph, and Katie and for the sake of many, many others.
Thanks so much for your participation and your generous support!
Peter O. Zeidner
